03/26/2008 - Planning Vacation?

If you are planning a vacation, why not consider having your monthly benefit check electronically deposited into your bank account. There are many advantages to Direct Deposit:

  • IT IS Safer - In fact, no Direct Deposit has ever been lost or stolen.
  • IT IS Faster - You don't have to worry about the weather, the mail, your health, or your schedule.
  • IT IS Easier - Payment is made the same time every month, which gives you more control over your finances.

You are 30 times more likely to have a problem with our paper check than with your Direct Deposit payment, according to the SSA.

SIGN UP FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT TODAY! A form is enclosed with your check or you can download the form here, http://www.ppnpf.org/docs/PPNPF_Direct_Deposit.pdf.

02/25/2008 - Returning to work

Generally, returning to work in the industry, or in related work, after commencing receipt of your pension benefit, will result in your benefit being stopped and other penalties being applied. Before you consider returning to work, you should first read the Summary of Plan Provisions on Suspension of Benefits Due to a Return to Work. Give special attention to the presumption of hours worked. Disability Pensioners should read the provisions on recovery from Disability.

This information is also available in the Plan Booklet, http://www.ppnpf.org/docs/2007%20Plan%20Booklet.pdf. See page 27 for a return to work after retirement; see page 18 for recovery from Disability. Both documents will instruct you about the notices you are required to give, the presumptions that the Fund will make, and the actions that will be taken when you return to work, unless you have been advised otherwise in a letter from the Fund office.
